I bought this Santa the first year I moved out on my own. He represents a special freedom to me... my own decorations for my own home. Now I share them with my own little family. I love him! He is like those nesting Russian dolls. You open him up and there's another Santa for you to open... and so on... and so on. There are 6 Santa's in total. I love lining them up to watch over the festivities every year; it wouldn't feel like Christmas without them.
I messed around with the photo I took today and I kind of have an Andy Warhol thing going on. I like it, it's kind of fun. Happy Holidays!
December 16th, 2002- Massacre at Weihnachtlund (Christmasland) -(AP) Today a horrific scene awaited those with glad tidings in theirs hearts, during this festive time of year. The happy people of Weihnachtlund (Christmasland) awoke to find a scene of devastation and destruction, like none the world has seen. The red of Santa Clauses littered the land like so much gore, entire ornaments ripped from the sacred Tannenbaum and tossed aside as if worthless, or much worse, used for sport of the attacking troops of Baron Milo Khublov, ruler of the Imperial Barony of Khanov.
It is believed that the forces of Baron Milo Khublov not only wanted to destroy Christmas, but also were after the transport train of the Christmas Express, ready to deliver this year's gifts, later in the day.
Authorities of Weihnachtlund have assured us that this years gifts have been secreted away to an undisclosed location in order to prevent the forces of Baron Milo Khublov from seizing them.
This is not the first attack against Weihnachtlund that Baron Milo Khublov's regime has perpetrated. Last year, Baron Milo Khublov launched a chemical warfare attack against the sacred Tannenbaum of Weihnachtlund in an attempt to ruin Christmas. His regime was so callous as to commemorate the event with limited edition coffee table coasters detailing the attack.
As a pledge to the security and preservation of the sovereign state of the Duchy of Weihnachtlund, the United Federation and the Great Kingdom have both declared war on the Imperial Barony of Khanov.
Military leaders of the United Federation and the Great Kingdom have detailed a military strike called "Operation Christmas Crusade." Phase one entails sending in a Special Forces unit to hamper the regime of Baron Milo Khublov and offer protection for the citizens of Weihnachtlund. Phase two involves sending a larger coalition military strike force to destroy the armed forces of the Imperial Barony of Khanov and to capture Baron Milo Khublov and bring him before a War Crimes Tribunal. - (AP)

The appointed nations that are peace seeking and freedom loving will not tolerate regimes that propagate violence, repression and destruction through senseless acts of terrorism.
100 books you should read in a lifetime. Hmmmm.... I think I have read about 16 of them, maybe 17. To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee is definitely in the top 5. As well as Little Women, Louisa May Alcott and The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkein. I would love to read through this list. There is something about a good book and how it takes you to another world... a true pleasure of life.

O.K. I am a little slow but I came across adbusters last night and I think it's great! When did we start becoming so conditioned to consume, consume, consume; go in debt, have the best of what is out there to outdo the others, to keep up with the others, so your wears shine the outmost compared to the others? Does the consuming high make you happy in your soul? What happens when you crash afterwards... do you need another fix? I love shopping and I love spending money, but if I go on a spree I always feel a little sick afterwards. I spent this much money!!!!?... on what though? Things that improve my life, my family's lives?... not usually. This is not to say I don't drool over stuff like books and beautiful expensive wool. I just don't cave into my impulses and buy what I want that minute. This way I find out what I really want to spend my money on, what my heart aches for.
My husband and I have become pretty responsible over the years. We have allowances and save to buy this or that. We make sacrifices to benefit the family and we don't buy the latest and greatest. We are working our way steadily out of debt and making sure not to incur more along the way. We pay for practically everything in cold hard cash and use the credit card rarely. We talked about how we should use the stuff we have and not just go on a blind consumer rampage throughout the mall. Now we are using the stuff we have... being crafty, using our imaginations and being together in a quiet way.
It is nice not to be in the mall bashing against strangers, getting the mall-sweats. Now the Christmas shopping has to be done. I suppose I will have to bash against a few strangers... but I am not looking forward to it!

On Thursday Sasha was laying down beside me and Milo walked by her head. She reached for Milo as he was walking by and in the process she rolled over for the first time. I don't think she realized what she did. Lately she has been working so adamantly at rolling over. She almost does a whole roll but stops about 3/4 of the way and rolls back. It frustrates her but she practices to no end. On Friday I think she realized her newfound powers. She rolled over 8 times. Happy Day! Happy Day! I am so proud of my little baby daughter. *Smiles all around!*
